Temp Chief ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This notice explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law.

1. What Data We Collect

When you use Temp Chief, we may collect the following:

Account information: email address and password (stored securely as a hash — we never store your password in plain text).
Profile details: full name, phone number, city, postcode, nationality, skills, certifications, and experience information.
Verification documents: copies of identification, right-to-work documents, and qualification certificates that you upload for verification purposes.
Portfolio content: project descriptions and images you choose to share publicly.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically when you use the platform.
Legal acceptance records: timestamps and metadata when you accept our terms and policies.

2. Why We Collect It

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

To provide our service: creating your account, building your profile, and carrying out verification (lawful basis: contract).
Platform operation and security: preventing fraud, maintaining platform integrity, and resolving issues (lawful basis: legitimate interest).
Communication: sending you updates about your account and verification status (lawful basis: contract).
Legal compliance: meeting our obligations under UK law (lawful basis: legal obligation).

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Verification documents are stored in encrypted cloud storage and are only accessible to authorised personnel during the verification process.

4. Data Retention

Verification documents: deleted after verification is complete, or within 90 days of upload if verification is not completed. Documents may be retained longer if required for dispute resolution.
Profile data: retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Technical logs: retained for up to 12 months for security and debugging purposes.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data with:

Service providers: cloud hosting, email delivery, and other tools necessary to operate the platform. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by appropriate agreements.
Law enforcement: if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

If you choose to make your portfolio public, the information in your portfolio (such as your name, headline, skills, and project details) will be visible to anyone with the link.

6. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data (subject to legal obligations).
Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest.

7. Cookies
